Article | Insights from Our GUIDE Participant Roundtable

Our in-person roundtable of GUIDE Participants and Partner Organizations brought leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem—including the Alzheimer’s Association, Mount Sinai, and Blue Cross Blue Shield—together to tackle the challenges and opportunities the innovative GUIDE model presents.

While the model provides a promising framework, the reality of implementation is more complex. Together, we explored some of the core challenges, including:

  • The Respite Paradox: Despite being a critical benefit with a dedicated annual fund, utilization of respite care is low. We uncovered some clear contributing factors.
  • The Navigator Role Requires Flexibility: Navigators often go “off-script” from mandated touchpoint requirements to provide weekly or even daily support to families in crisis.
  • The Challenge of Growth and Referrals
With the model established, the focus is shifting to scale. Yet engaging referral partners is not straightforward.

A new model of support designed for working family caregivers
